Well, finally, the Fenwood Town summer storyline has come to an end! It has been a month or two of changes at The Woodlands stadium with 12 first team players walking out of the doors for the last time, but at least two new faces have been brought in. Alf Worthington was the man to stop the rot at Fenwood by buying out John MacEvenie, but his contraversial choice of manager has left many fans fuming. Has he done the right thing? Only time will tell....

That manager, you all know by now is none other than Barry Collins, former Fenwood Town and England centre-back. He is a legend amongst fans of The Lumberjacks, but they are not too happy that his appointment has caused the departures of several big names. But as big names leave, other are brought in. I do not want to say too much, but Barry is on the verge of signing a man who will no doubt be the most talented player in Division Three in the history of the Division!

Now that the storyline is over, let me just tell you how different the story of Fenwood was back when I started it. The saga actually did start out as a novel I wrote while on holiday a few years ago. Fenwood County as they were caled back then (yep, FCFC!), were a Scottish Third Division Club teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. Barry was still playing aged 39, but the former England star had fallen from the highs of England caps and European football down to the depths of Division Three with Reckitt Town. On the last day of the season, his team were relegated, and he was told the next day that the club could not afford to keep him on.

Now a free agent, he went for a trial over in Ireland for a club called Transleigh (now a English Division One side), where he met an arrogant, Englishman hating Striker called Robert Corbitt. At the end of his two week trial, Barry featured in a friendly against Transleigh's local and fierce rivals, Transleigh Cove (now an English Third Division side). Although his side won, Robert taunted him after the match about how slow he had become, and what a waste of space he now was. Barry thumped him one, and was instantly dismissed.

With his career in tatters, he retired from the game with deep regret for how his love affair with football had come to an end. It proved not to be however, as one day Barry was eating out with this agent, Freddy Hawkes. Hawkes' phone rang, and when he ended the call, he revealed that Fenwood County wanted Barry as their new manager.

Barry arriving at the lowly, desperate, debt-ridden Scottish Third Division outfit proved to be the end of that novel. The second one I had planed never materialised, but when I saw the oppotunity to make a website, Fenwood were adapted online! A change of nationality, a change of scenario, and a few players altered later, and the site was complete!

Well, that is the history of the creation of The Lumberjacks. Hope you found it interesting, because it has certainly been an experiance I will never forget!
